Wondering what kinds of things you could do to thank a Veteran, current Member of our Armed Forces or their family members? Here's an idea list to help you get started! Remember, you can complete a Random Act of Freedom for anyone you know who has or is serving in the Armed Forces - it does not have to be a stranger!
- Rake their leaves
- Get their mail
- Buy them a cup of coffee or meal
- Wash their car
- Mow their grass
- Write them a thank you note or card
- Send flowers
- Tie a thank you balloon to their mailbox or car antenna
- Pay for their dry-cleaning
- Clean out their gutters
- Sweep off their front porch
- Give them a hug
- Hand out coupons or gift cards
- Take them donuts
- Place American Flags in their landscaping
- Leave a note on their car
- Do you knit or crochet? Make a scarf for the cold weather months.
- Listen to their stories with interest - if they are a war-Veteran, they will have seen things that you will never see. Listen & Learn.
- Call or visit a local nursing home or VA Hospital, bring treats.

- Call them - a grandparent, uncle, aunt, mother or father - take the time to call and say hi!
- Recognize Veterans in your Church service or bulliten board.
- Have your children paint a picture or write a letter of thanks.
- Teach your children a patriotic song, "America the Beautiful" or "The Star Spangled Banner" - Instill Patriotism Early!
- Employers: Give the Veterans in your company a paid day off.
- Business owners - offer a Veteran's discount or participate in Freedom Day USA.
- Teachers - Invite a Veteran to speak at your school - either in your classroom or to address the entire student-body
- Pray for them and their families - every day.
- Start a drive, collect items for deployed troops and make care packages.
- Know a military family with a deployed family member? Take them a treat on Veterans Day and ask what you can do to help them
- Send a tweet or Facebook Message to them.
- Open your house on Thanksgiving or another holiday to a few Veterans who don't have family in the area.
- Visit a National Military Cemetery.
